H. Scott Bates Honored for His Legal Expertise

H. Scott Bates is a recognized and frequent lecturer to physicians and attorneys in the areas of medical malpractice litigation, peer-review privileges and medical records law.

    ORLANDO, FL, September 19, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Scott Bates, Attorney of Morgan & Morgan, PA, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in medical malpractice law.

Mr. Bates has 33 years of professional experience, with 22 years as an attorney at Morgan & Morgan, PA., where he is primarily responsible for managing medical malpractice cases. Mr. Bates received a JD from the University of Florida in 1981. In addition to his degree, he is a board certified civil trial lawyer through the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the Central Florida Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. In recognition of his tireless service, he has received a 25-year anniversary award commemorating his AV-Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Born January 19, 1956 in Frankfurt, West Germany, Scott Bates rose to prominence after receiving his JD in 1981. In the following years, he was admitted to practice in the United States District Courts of the Southern and Middle Districts, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit, and the State of Tennessee.

As the child of a family of lawyers, Mr. Bates began his legal career with his father, Richard W. Bates, a well-known trial lawyer in Central Florida at his firm, Richard W. Bates, PA. In 1987, Bates & Bates would merge with Mateer and Harbert, becoming Mateer, Harbert & Bates. In 1992, Mr. Bates left the firm to join Morgan & Morgan as one of four equity partners. Since he joined the firm, Morgan & Morgan has grown from a staff of seven lawyers to become the state's largest personal injury firm.

Today, Mr. Bates is a recognized and frequent lecturer to physicians and attorneys in the areas of medical malpractice litigation, peer-review privileges and medical records law. He has tried more than 150 medical malpractice cases to verdict, and has participated as an appellate counsel in more than 15 reported cases.
