FORT MYERS, FL, September 26, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bruno's of Brooklyn, a new Italian eatery featuring high-quality artisan gourmet foods, is proud to announce the grand opening of the imaginative specialty restaurant in downtown Fort Myers. The festivities are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 2112 Second Street, Fort Myers, Florida 33901.

Guests will have the opportunity to sample select menu items and receive complementary gifts with a meal purchase while supplies last. Parking is available in free two-hour or metered parking spots as well as parking lots in the surrounding area.

Construction of Bruno's of Brooklyn began late spring with buzz surrounding the new eatery ever since.

"We are very pleased with the response we have been receiving," said Bruno's of Brooklyn Owner and Chef Calcedonio Bruno. "Throughout construction, we have had visitors, calls and emails coming in excited about the eatery. The anticipation and frequency of inquiries has been building the closer we are to opening."

Bruno's of Brooklyn partnered with the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce to host a ribbon cutting on September 18, 2014. Fort Myers Mayor Randall P. Henderson Jr., Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott, and Lee County Commissioners Cecil L. Pendergrass and Brian Hamman were in attendance for the event as well as many other local dignitaries and invited guests.

It took over three years of planning before the Bruno family relocated from Brooklyn to Fort Myers, and over a year to find the right space for Bruno's of Brooklyn. The Bruno's immediately immersed themselves into Fort Myers life, becoming involved in the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce, the River District Alliance and various downtown events including the Art Walk and the upcoming Taste of Lee.

People have asked Cal where he was trained to cook or what culinary institute he attended. He often responds, "my culinary education was held every Sunday in the family kitchen with three generations of Bruno's passing on their expertise to me."

The ricette (Italian for recipes) are over a century old and the only thing that's changed in all those years is the kitchens they're prepared in - not the ingredients or methods used. Together the Bruno's have held numerous positions working in restaurants from dishwasher to host and are proud to bring their experience to Bruno's of Brooklyn.

Bruno's of Brooklyn has a number of items on the menu that are exclusively imported from Italy and prepared for customers in such a way that they will not find elsewhere. The new restaurant serves traditional and recognizable Italian foods, such as Italian sausage with peppers and onions, Penne alla Bruno, and a variety of hero sandwiches on fresh Italian bread from New York. In addition, the eatery features sliced cured meats, imported cheeses and of course cannolis.

Even more exciting for the Bruno's is sharing the Sicilian culture. Many may not have tasted delicacies such as sfingi otherwise known as Italian zeppole, which are Sicilian puff pastries or panella di ceci otherwise known as pane e panelle, which are Sicilian fritters popular on the streets of Palermo.

No matter where guests are from, this new eatery is one to frequent time and time again. The food is prepared fresh daily, and the restaurant offers moderately-priced regular and special menu items including gluten-free options. The easy and quick process appeals to busy professionals, retirees and families alike with dining, take out, delivery, and catering available. Whether customers want to grab an on-the-go breakfast, dine in for lunch, pick up dinner, or cater an event, Bruno's of Brooklyn is the place.
