Art! Vancouver to Contribute to Lion's Gate Hospital Foundation Art Donation Program, "The Healing Power of Art"

Art! Vancouver to Help Spread Awareness of Art Donation Program for Lion's Gate Hospital in West Vancouver

VANCOUVER, BC, October 28, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Organizers at Art! Vancouver 2015, an international fine art exhibition that is expected to be one of the largest to ever be held in Vancouver, have joined in the support of Lion's Gate Hospital Foundation's fine art donation program, 'The Healing Power of Art', to help elevate the environment of the Lion's Gate Hospital and other West Vancouver-based health facilities.

Based out of West Vancouver, British Columbia, the Lion's Gate Hospital Foundation (LGHF) provides support and raises funds for several health care facilities in the North Shore area. In the past seven years, the LGHF has raised over $70 million for new state-of-the-art medical equipment, facility improvements, staff education, and research.

'The Healing Power of Art' is just one of their many programs with the goal to increase the condition of West Vancouver's health care facilities. The program seeks the donation of artwork from artists and non-artists; artwork that is approved by the LGHF art committee is then be placed throughout the Lions Gate Hospital, with the goal to help create a calming and attractive environment for the benefit of patients, their families, staff, and visitors.

"Having beautiful art work is calming and relaxing and allows patients, staff and visitors to focus periodically on something other than their health concerns," says LGHF art curator Edith Warner. "We have had a wonderful response from the community and particularly from those who have experienced the uplifting look of our hallways, waiting rooms, and wards at the hospital."

Artists who kindly donate their artwork will be recognized with an appropriate label of recognition and will be featured on the Lion's Gate Hospital Foundation website gallery with a link to the artist's website.

"It's a wonderful cause and we are happy to play a role in filling the Lion's Gate Hospital walls with beautiful artwork, as we also believe in the healing power that fine art can bring," says Founder and Director of Art! Vancouver, Lisa Wolfin.

Art! Vancouver organizers have shared 'The Healing Power of Art' with their many registered artists, and plan to continue spreading awareness of the art donation program up until the day of the exhibition, May 21st 2015.

Much like most others within the Vancouver art scene, Edith Warner, art curator of LGHF, is in high anticipation for the upcoming international art exhibition to be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

"Art Vancouver is a first for Vancouver, and should be an excellent experience for all, especially for artists searching for an excellent means of exposure," says Warner, "it should be a great event to view a lot of high quality art in one location."
