Peter Rhee Honored as a Leading Health Care Professional

Dr. Rhee's life's work was to help people recover from traumatic injury.

    TUCSON, AZ, December 08, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Peter Rhee, Chief of the Division of Trauma, Critical Care, Burn and Emergency Surgery at University Medical Center, Tucson, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in critical care.

Dr. Rhee has 19 years of professional experience, with seven years as the chief of the Division of Trauma, Critical Care, Burn and Emergency Surgery at University Medical Center, Tucson. As an expert in trauma, he treats patients requiring critical care, and burn and emergency surgery. Dr. Rhee's areas of research interest include hemorrhagic shock, suspended animation for trauma, hemostatic agents, resuscitation immunology and formulation of resuscitation fluids, trauma training, and advanced portable electronic medical devices including ones for communication and documentation. He has contributed to his field by writing more than 280 publications in his areas of interest. Attributing his success to his hard work, Dr. Rhee became involved in his profession because it was his life's endeavor.

Dr. Rhee completed a Trauma and Critical Care fellowship and was awarded a Master degree in Public Health through Harborview Medical Center at the University of Washington in 1995, having finished his residency at the University of California Irvine Medical Center in 1992. He received an MD from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences at F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in 1987, and a bachelor's degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1983. He retired from the US Navy as a Captain USN, after 24 years of active duty service with numerous deployments including tours in Afghanistan and Iraq in 2007. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the American College of Surgeons, Critical Care Medicine, Diplomat Medical Care Catastrophes, the American Surgical Association, the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Western Trauma Association, the Society of University Surgeons, the Association for Academic Surgery, the Society of Critical Care, the Shock Society, the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma and the Western Surgical Association. In 2014, Castle Connolly presented Dr. Rhee with an America's Top Doctors recognition. In five years, he expects to continue to contribute to his field.
