LOS ANGELES, CA, December 16, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The compelling civil rights feature film drama Freedom Summer is slated to go into production in late 2015.

Based on true events, Freedom Summer follows a group of college students from the North as they go down to Mississippi during the volatile summer of 1964 in an attempt to register African Americans to vote. The film highlights the violence and corruption during this dark period in American history, and how the tenacity and courage of America's youth played a vital role in changing the civil rights movement forever.

The film was written by Mark Bacci and will be produced by Suzanne DeLaurentiis and co-produced by Maria Hanson. Arvid Edward will serve as associate producer.
