LVE Enterprises Urge Entrepreneurs to be Open-minded

After reviewing a recent study, LVE Enterprises state that entrepreneurs need to be more open minded within business and avoid conforming to typical stereotypes of what makes a business person successful.

CORK, IRELAND, December 25, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Starting a business is not easy and many entrepreneurs find that building a business faces just as many challenges. When starting a business and during the early days of trading, entrepreneurs face many tasks alone and tend to think they can do everything. Once an entrepreneur is a success, one of the biggest challenges then is letting go. LVE Enterprises believe it's not good to be single minded in business. The firm supports research from Aston University that suggests it's better to be good at working with others and willing to listen to other people's points of view.

The stereotypical view about the business world is that entrepreneurs need to be single-minded and shut out opposing views if they are to be a success. The research conducted by Aston University included a series of experiments to find out which personality traits help business people to be successful when trying to obtain funding for a business idea.

The research participants were from the creative industries and each had between one and ten employees, made GBP 500,000 to GBP 2 million in annual sales and were planning to expand. Participants took a psychometric test and after completing, were split into three different groups. The 'Gold Group' included members that scored highly for working with others, communicating and presenting. In comparison, the 'Bronze Group' had the lowest competency scores and was more introverted and less interested in collaborating with others.

These behavioural traits had a direct effect on how successful the entrepreneurs were in securing funding from banks and investors, say researchers. According to the survey, 50% of those in the Gold Group who applied for finance secured it, while 46% did not apply. Of those with the lowest competencies in the Bronze Group, 40% applied for funding and were turned down, while only 27% applied and were successful.

From the study, LVE Enterprise conclude that those who are better at collaborating and planning are more successful when it comes to applying for funding. The direct link between certain personality traits and funding success provides food for thought. Determination and drive are still vitally important, but LVE Enterprise believe entrepreneurs need to be able to listen and adapt too.
