About Dr. K. Douglas Barker:
Originally from the "Sunshine State" of Florida, Dr. Barker attended the University of Florida where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree, as well as his Doctorate of Dental Medicine. Relocating to Brooklyn, New York after graduating from dental school, Dr. Barker completed his general practice residency at New York Methodist Hospital. During residency, he took interest in cosmetic and complex prosthetic cases including placing and restoring implants. Following his residency, Dr. Barker began to practice in the financial district of Manhattan and in Astoria Queens.

Deciding to make the West Coast home, Dr. Barker relocated to Orange County, California in 2013. After carefully reviewing his options, Dr. Barker decided to open Newport Center Smile Design in Newport Beach. Combining his love of general dentistry with his passion for implants and restorative density, Dr. Barker developed a highly advanced practice that offers innovative care in both facets. He is a proud member of the American Dental Association, the Newport Harbor Academy of Dentistry and the California Dental Association.

Outside of the office, Dr. Barker enjoys outdoor sports such as cycling, running, mountain biking, surfing, snowboarding and swimming. A true perfectionist, Dr. Barker also competes in a wide range of triathlons every season, such as the Oceanside California Half Ironman, Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, NYC Triathlon, and the NYC Marathon. Giving back and supporting the community is very important to Dr. Barker and as a team, his staff strives make this a part of their overall philosophy. In the past, Dr. Barker has traveled to Honduras and the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean, on mission trips to provide dental services to those in need. He has also ridden his bicycle across the US to raise funds and awareness for individuals with disabilities for an organization called Push America, based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.
