Hiring, Salaries Both Expected to Increase in 2015

An encouraging November jobs report, falling gas prices and other economic indicators are leading to increased optimism for employer hiring and employee wage increases in the new year.

CHARLESTON, SC, December 29, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Optimism about the economy -- combined with traditional New Year's Resolutions to get a new job or earn more -- is spurring an increased interest in finding a job in the new year, says a South Carolina employment professional.

"Folks who have felt underpaid and underappreciated in their current jobs may see 2015 as their chance to make a career move," says Lynette Harley, a professional resume writer with Career Corner Employment Services in Hampton, S.C.

"An up-to-date resume is the first step for those considering a job change," Harley says. "Whether you see an advertised opening or are networking your way into a new position, a strong resume can open doors. That means quantifying the things you do in your current job that make you valuable to the employer -- things like saving them money, helping them attract and retain customers and improving processes."

To help jobseekers considering a new position in the new year, Harley is offering several hours of open phones in the next week with the opportunity to "Ask Lynette" questions to help them in their job search. Common questions include: "How do I know if I'm underpaid?" to "Do I need a LinkedIn profile?" to "Is my resume ok?" To answer that last question, Harley offers a free resume review to all callers.

"Ask Lynette" is available Monday, Dec. 29; Tuesday, Dec. 30; and Wednesday, Dec. 31 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Eastern each day, and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day by calling toll-free, 800-355-4095. Or, jobseekers wanting to schedule a specific phone consultation time can email [email protected].

Harley was a staff manager in the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce before opening her private careers practice in September 2013. She helps jobseekers with everything from resume development and updates to mock interview coaching to salary negotiation advisement.
