W. Norman Scott, MD, Honored for Excellence in Sports Medicine

Dr. Scott has been an orthopedic surgeon for many prestigious sports teams throughout his career.



Dr. Scott was previously the Head Team Physician for the New York Knicks (27 years 1978-05), the New York Rangers, (1980-1987), and the 1992 U.S. Olympic basketball "dream team."

    NEW YORK, NY, December 30, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- W. Norman Scott, MD of NYU Langone Medical Center Hospital for Joint Disease (HJD), has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in sports medicine and knee surgery.

Dr. Scott brings 37 years of orthopedic experience to his position as an active attending physician of NYU Langone Medical Center Hospital for Joint Disease. Over the years, Dr. Scott has developed an expertise in the areas of sports medicine, adult reconstruction and knee surgery.
He is a Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Marshall University. He is a founding member and the senior director of the Insall Scott Kelly Institute for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. He is the program director of the ISK adult reconstruction fellowship, which began in 1991, and has graduated approximately 100 post graduate Fellows.

Dr. Scott was previously the Head Team Physician for the New York Knicks (27 years 1978-05), the New York Rangers, (1980-1987), the 1992 U.S. Olympic basketball "dream team," and the Orthopedic Surgeon for the WNBA New York Liberty (1997-05).

Dr. Scott completed his surgical and orthopedic training at Roosevelt Hospital and the Hospital for Special Surgery after earning an MD from Cornell University Medical College. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, Dr. Scott is also the President and CEO of the International Congress of Joint Reconstruction (ICJR), a worldwide philanthropic educational community committed to joint arthroplasty and reconstruction. He is also the director of the Insall Traveling Fellowship Program and was a member of several editorial boards, such as the Journal of Arthroplasty, the American Journal of Knee Surgery and the Journal of Orthopedic Techniques. He has published 17 books on areas of knee disorders and their treatment. Dr. Scott has been named in the 14th, 15th and 16th editions as one of New York Metro Area's Top Doctors as well as the 10th, 11th and 12th editions of America's Top Doctors by New York Magazine. In addition, Castle Connolly recognized Dr. Scott as a two-time Top Doctor. In years to come, he will continue to treat his patients with the latest technological breakthroughs in his specialty.
