Girl Scouts 2 New Cookies & 'Five for 5' Promo

2015 Girl Scout Cookie Season rapidly approaching!

LAWTON, OK, January 29, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Excitement is in the air as Girl Scout Cookie season approaches. Thin Mints, Samoas and Tag-A-Longs are just a few of the classic Girl Scout Cookie flavors to the streets on February 7 when Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma launches its 2015 Cookie Sale. Two new flavors, Rah Rah Rasins and Toffee-Tastic, have also been added to this year's sale.

The sale officially begins Feb 7 with individual girls selling door-to-door. Cookie Booth sales begin on Feb 20, all sales will end on March 28. Cookies are $4.00 a box or $48.00 a case. Toffee-Tastic, our gluten-free specialty cookie is sold for $5.00 a box or $60.00 per case.

"The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the country," said Misti Pryor, Communications Specialist for Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma. "It prepares girls for their future by developing five business building skills: Goal Setting, Decision Making, Money Management, People Skills and Business Ethics. We believe these are aspects essential to leadership, to success and to life."

The "Five for 5" promotion is an example of how girls incorporate the Five Skills within the actual sale. Customers who purchase five boxes of cookies receive a chance to win a fabulous cookie jar and five cases of cookies to fill it with.

Girls are encouraged to talk to their customers about the Five Skills as they complete their transactions.

Girls are once again supporting our troops with Operation: Cookie Drop. Customers who do not wish to take home cookies can continue to support their favorite Girl Scout by ordering "virtual Operation: Cookie Drop cookies." These cookies will then be sent to our military troops serving overseas along with cards of support created by Girl Scouts at the 3rd annual Operation: Cookie Drop event taking place this summer.

Technology is helping girls sell cookies this year in a big way. "While we as a council are not participating in the Digital Cookie Pilot girls can sell online using the Cookie Club Program," Pryor said. "We also have our Cookie Locator app that you can download to find our booth sales when they kick off on February 20." The app can be found at http://www.girlscoutcookies.org
