Jeffrey Goldberg, DO, Recognized for Excellence in Psychiatry

Dr. Goldberg plans to transform behavioral health into a more patient-centered recovery model

    BROOKLYN, NY, January 30, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jeffrey Goldberg, DO, Chairman of Psychiatry of Coney Island Hospital, has been recognized by Worldwide Registry for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in his profession.

Dr. Goldberg has nearly three decades of medical experience, with an expertise in treating depression, and anxiety disorders. His duties in his current role of eight years are overseeing the quality of care in the Department of Behavioral Health, as well as the safety of patients and staff, and to develop new programs.

Also a public speaker, Dr. Goldberg presented "Restoring Psychiatric Services after Hurricane Sandy" at the 2014 APA meeting in New York City. In the future, Dr. Goldberg intends to transform behavioral health into a more patient-centered recovery model. His goals involve looking at whole populations, not just individuals, and how they can best deliver behavioral health care to the community based on needs assessment.

Successful because of his patient-oriented nature, Dr. Goldberg also credits his ability to empathize with his patients. He became involved in his profession because of the challenge of working with human behavior and his passion for helping people in crisis.

A stellar education has also benefitted Dr. Goldberg. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from the Charter Class at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (1981) and a degree in biology from Columbia University (1977). He completed his residency in psychiatry at Maimonides Medical Center in 1985. He maintains board certification in adult and geriatric psychiatry.

Recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, Dr. Goldberg also maintains an affiliation as a Distinguished Fellow with the American Psychiatric Association. He is also a former district president of the Brooklyn Psychiatric Society. He is also a founding and current board member of PAGNY, New York State's largest multispecialty group. He has been recognized as a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly for the past 16 years. His hobbies include music, sports and American culture.
