Manifest Auctions Presents Rare Porcelain Signs & Railroadiana Feb 28th

    GREENVILLE, SC, February 05, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rare railroad, oil, gas, automobile, country store, clothing, and beer signs will be sold at Manifest Auctions on February 28th as part of their Winter Auction Event. The sale also includes other rare advertising and railroad antiques as part of the 518 lot sale with online bidding provided through LiveAuctioneers.com and Proxibid.com

The highlight of the sale is an extremely rare Kelly Tires Sign estimated to bring $30,000-40,000 and featuring the company's Lotta Miles advertising woman. There are only a handful of these 42" diameter signs known to exist and this is one of the best known examples according to Dale Fenton, Advertising Director at Manifest Auctions. He states: "This sign is not only rare in its own right, it's one of the finest examples of porcelain signage ever made." This sign has been in one family for over 40 years after they found it in an old service station in Colorado.

Manifest's sale also includes a collection of rare railroad antiques including locomotive builder's plates by Baldwin and ALCO, wax sealers used by railroads and express companies, and an extremely rare Santa Fe railroad locomotive badge which is estimated to bring $4,000-8,000. There are only a few of these badges known to exist including one in a California Railroad Museum.

"We've sold some great signs and advertising pieces, but these are the best I've had the pleasure to bring to market, and it may be decades before another of these signs is offered public sale." said Fenton, he noted that true rarities like this often sell from one advanced collector to the other without ever being seen by the public.
