POP Art: The Andy Warhol Studio Opens at the Lisa Ann Watson Children's Museum at the Alper JCC

Children can step into an interactive and creative environment inspired by the work of artist Andy Warhol at POP Art: The Andy Warhol Studio.

MIAMI, FL, February 06, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Children can claim their "15 minutes of fame" and more as they step into an interactive and creative environment inspired by the work of artist Andy Warhol at POP Art: The Andy Warhol Studio, opening at the Lisa Ann Watson Children's Museum at the Alper JCC on March 1st.

This exhibit offers young audiences the chance to create unique art in a silkscreen studio in a style similar to Warhol's infamous depictions of iconic figures such as Howdy Doody, Mickey Mouse and the Wizard of Oz's Wicked Witch of the West. Children can design an original image out of newsprint, then take their images to the silkscreen bed where they assist staff in "inking" the screen with a squeegee and creating an original piece of art.

"The Studio experience provides kids with a great introduction to art," stated Penny Lodge, Director of Exhibits at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh. "The colors, playful nature of Andy Warhol's art and the simplicity of his silk screens are great inspirations for young artists. And in the Studio children can create their very own masterpieces."

Other activities at the POP Art: The Andy Warhol Studio, exhibit include playing in the Dress-Up Center where visitors can dress up like characters in some of Warhol's paintings, and learning about Warhol's artwork and art in general in the Book Center.

On April 12th will be a special Family Fun Day with Mama Doni family concert in the theater at 3pm and interactive activities with Anhinga Art Studios.
