San Diego Kitchens Wow Judges at 2015 Regional Contractor of the Year Awards

Jackson Design and Remodeling's Three Stunning Kitchens Advance to National Finals

SAN DIEGO, CA, February 09, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- San Diego-based Jackson Design & Remodeling (JDR) announced today it has won three regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) Awards from The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for newly remodeled residential kitchens. Located in Southern California, JDR's regional win came in the Southwest region, which includes Hawaii and Utah.

JDR's winning projects will automatically advance to the national CotY awards, which will be announced at NARI's annual "Evening of Excellence" reception on April 17, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty Six in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

"We are proud of our exceptional team of designers for bringing home three regional CotY awards this year," said Todd Jackson, President and CEO of JDR. "They went above and beyond throughout every step of the design process, from interpreting our clients' needs and desires to executing the job flawlessly. Winning CotY awards is a tremendous honor for us and we can't wait to see what happens at the national finals."

JDR's three winning kitchens include:

Residential Kitchen $60,001 to $100,000: Rustic Zen
Tatiana Machado-Rosas, Senior Interior Designer, Member ASID
Assistant Designer, Olga Trujillo
Residential Designer, John Kavan

Meticulous about visuals, these San Diego homeowners wanted to express their affinity for Asian-style design in a memorable environment, while significantly improving the functionality of the space. JDR Senior Designer Tatiana Machado-Rosas blended visual and textural elements to create an elegant, welcoming atmosphere rich with sophistication. The cooktop is now not only functional but also an artistic statement that is beautiful to look at. The contrast of the wood beam concealing the hood against the black granite backsplash encapsulates the imaginative creativity in this design. Elegant shoji-style doors conceal the pantry while encompassing the essence of the space. The Zen-inspired rustic retreat now provides the couple with a functional and tranquil space to prepare creative meals.

Residential Kitchen $100,001 to $150,000: Bright Hues
Sol Quintana Wagoner, Senior Interior Designer, Member ASID
Assistant Designer, Marisela Contreras
Residential Designer, John Kavan

Inspired by a modern piece of art chosen for their first child, the young homeowners wanted to live in a fun and vibrant space. Senior Designer Sol Quintana Wagoner was the perfect person to breathe color into the once dark and drab kitchen. Turquoise, green, orange and purple brighten up the kitchen while the multi-colored tiled wall creates a stunning visual, seamlessly blending the vibrant colors inside with the scenery outside. To create a natural separation between the kitchen and living space without cutting off the flow of the home, the design team created the unique architectural element in the ceiling, building three separate layers. The newly remodeled kitchen now boasts an open concept design integrated with the rest of the living area, making it an ideal location to entertain guests.

Residential Kitchen over $150,000: Natural Modern
Sol Quintana Wagoner, Senior Interior Designer, Member ASID
Assistant Designer, Marisela Contreras
Residential Designer, John Kavan

Designed for a well-traveled couple who wanted a kitchen to reflect their unique lifestyle, this space is anything but ordinary. JDR Senior Designer Sol Quintana Wagoner created this stunning space that expresses a refined point of view with an open concept, seamlessly connecting the living areas with the home's natural environment. New windows and glass doors now fill the kitchen with light and circulation, grounded by a balance of refined and natural textures. Several types of wood are contrasted with the glossy sheen of white cabinetry and countertops. Rectangles of white and dark colors, and open and closed spaces create an intriguing visual duality. One of the most unique features in this space is the natural wood table attached to the island. Inspired by a piece of wood the clients discovered, the live edge rosewood table was handmade with meticulous detail. The space is now ideal for the clients, filled with natural light, rustic woods and modern style.
