Kristen Scott Thomas Plays The Queen in a New Version of The Audience

    LONDON, ENGLAND, February 17, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kristen Scott Thomas will play The Queen in an updated version of Peter Morgan's play, The Audience. As Scott takes the role for the London production, which will be staged at the Apollo Theatre from 21st April 2015, Helen Mirren will reprise the role in Broadway.

Described by the Guardian as "the first surefire, unstoppable hit of the year" in 2014, Peter Morgan's Olivier Award-winning drama was inspired by the weekly private audiences between Elizabeth II and her twelve Prime Ministers at Buckingham Palace. Directed by Stephen Daldry, the man responsible for bringing Billy Elliot to the London stage, it doesn't follow a chronological order and instead jumps from John Major to Churchill then forward to Wilson and so on.

Further theatre highlights of April in London include Enda Walsh's adaptation of Roald Dahl's The Twits, staged at the Royal Court Theatre, a rare professional production of Bugsy Malone at Lyric Hammersmith; and High Society at the Old Vic, the latest production of the Cole Porter Musical.
