Boys & Girls Club Seeks Sponsors for its 13th Annual Great Futures for Kids Breakfast

Award-winning screenwriter, author, producer and director Antwone Fisher as keynote speaker

OXNARD, CA, February 14, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme is seeking sponsors for its 13th Annual Great Futures for Kids Breakfast on April 23, featuring a keynote address by award-winning screenwriter, author, producer and director Antwone Fisher. Born in prison to a teenage mother, he went on to survive a tumultuous twelve years in the foster system. His life seemed to turn around after serving 11 years in the United States Navy. Fisher shares his conviction of facing life's challenges head-on and inspires his audience with thought-provoking lessons that are poignant and inspiring.

The breakfast event is a community rally to support Great Futures for Kids, which provides a wide range of educational and enrichment programs that encourage lifelong learning, and provide youth development in the arts, education, character and leadership, health and recreation. Families pay $20 per year to become members of the Club; the Club pays the remaining $500 per year in program fees for each child. Proven to be a worthwhile investment, members of BGCOP have higher graduation rates, lower teen pregnancy and lower crime rates than area youth, resulting in a 1,200 percent return on donor investments.

"This event engages our local businesses and individuals in our mission to create hope and opportunities for the youth of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme," said Erin Antrim, BGCOP chief executive officer. "It's through the generous support of our donors and volunteers that BGCOP can ensure our 9,000+ members will continue to receive access to the Club, and the programs and activities that help these young people achieve personal success and realize their full potential as caring, responsible, self-sufficient citizens in our community."

Sponsorship benefits include corporate recognition at the Breakfast, publicity on promotional materials and tickets to the event. The deadline for sponsorship is April 6. For sponsorship opportunities, more information, or to attend the breakfast contact Antrim at (805) 815-4959 ext.203 or [email protected].

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oxnard and Port Hueneme exists to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Program areas offered to youth include character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, computer training and sports/fitness/recreation opportunities.
