David W. Pyke Honored for Excellence in Entertainment

Mr. Pyke progressed from musician to composer

With a quarter-century of industry experience, Mr. Pyke has created a stellar reputation in writing classical orchestra music.

NORTH MACKAY, AUSTRALIA, March 14, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David W. Pyke, Composer of David Pyke Entertainment, was recently named a VIP Member of Worldwide Branding. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

With a quarter-century of industry experience, Mr. Pyke has created a stellar reputation in writing classical orchestra music. His duties in his current role of 15 years are writing orchestra or chamber music, touring and traveling. In 2011, Australian composer Mr. Pyke premiered his ballet work for a full orchestra called, "Ballet of the Matryoshka Dolls," in Bulgaria.

Mr. Pyke's passion for music developed due to his involvement in church music ensembles, jazz bands and other musical groups. He amassed an impressive education, earning a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics (2006), a Bachelor of Education (1996), and Bachelor of Science in Philosophy (1994), all from Griffith University.

While he attended University, Mr. Pyke elected to study music under Astrid Shummey, who introduced him to musical score reading and analysis. He became fascinated by what he saw as a form of musical architecture and began experimenting with light arrangements for a variety of small groups.

On completion of his bachelor's degree in 1996, Mr. Pyke was offered a teaching opportunity that would see him relocate from Australia to London. From there, Mr. Pyke was offered another teaching opportunity to work in the remote township of Al Ruwais, in the United Arab Emirates, as a mathematics and science teacher at the International School of Choueifat.

It was in this secluded environment that Mr. Pyke was able to find the time to experiment and write orchestrations. He started to produce multiple short pieces and was inspired to attempt a sizable piece; his first short symphony "Symphony No.1 in D minor." In 2003, a chamber concert by members of the KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra was held at the Bergteil Museum in Durban, South Africa, which premiered two hours of Mr. Pyke's written pieces. He returned to Australia in late 2003 and was successful in applying for an RADF grant to write a short fantasia for orchestra, Young Leaf Fantasia. In 2004, Mr. Pyke received a grant from the local government to write a symphony themed on Australia's iconic Great Barrier Reef. From this request, he created a 42-minute orchestration celebrating this natural phenomenon.

On February 27, 2015, Mr. Pyke will premiere the piano version of Scorpion Fish Dance in Brussels. This work was originally performed as a string quartet piece in South Africa by members of Kwa-Zulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban South Africa. Additionally, Mr. Pyke is currently collaborating with renowned Luxembourg-based compostrice Albena Petrovic Vratchanska. He is also in contact and collaborative work with world acclaimed ballet dancer, choreographer and director Ken Ludden to write a new ballet work. In the future, Mr. Pyke intends to liaise with more artistic directors and composers around the world.

Mr. Pyke attributes his success to those opportunities that he had more than a decade ago, after starting his career as a musician.

Recently inducted into Worldwide Branding, Mr. Pyke also maintains an affiliation with APRA AMCOS and charitably supports the Regional Council for Social Development.
