The NSX Hybrid: Successor of the NSX Super-Car

    TAMPA, FL, March 23, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- After more than two decades, Acura will finally reveal the successor to the original iconic NSX super-car, which has the potential to exceed all performance expectations. (1)

The automaker has released several photos of the new 2016 Acura NSX that hint at a production model similar to that of concepts revealed at the 2012 and 2013 North American International Auto Shows (NAIAS). Following the trend, the new NSX supercar was presented at this year's 2015 NAIAS in Detroit. (2)

It has been speculated that the new NSX will feature a mid-mounted engine and a three-motor, twin-turbocharged sport hybrid power unit, (3) although details regarding the vehicle's engine specs, performance and equipment are yet to be revealed at Acura's press conference in Detroit. (2)

The system found in Acura's jaw-dropping, pulse-pounding new super-car will likely have fans reminiscing about the 377-horsepower RLX Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) sedan. Reports in the automotive press suggest that the 2016 NSX will incorporate a version of the RLX hybrid-electric power-train, which features a V-6 gas-engine that powers the front wheels and two electric motors feeding the rear wheels. However, the system will be reversed in the new 2016 NSX, and the hybrid power-train works with a twin turbocharged V-6 engine, which means that output will also be much higher. Speculations in the industry suggest a total 500 horsepower from the hybrid power-train. (3)
