"Three years ago, I sat across from my Partner Sammer in our office with a copy of REALTOR Magazine's 30 Under 30. Our goal was simple. We set out to change the way agents and consumers alike approached buying and selling property...and ended up achieving so much more. I'm grateful and very humbled to be receiving this incredible honor on behalf of our brokerage." - Jay O'Brien, REALTOR and Managing Partner at RE/MAX Prestige

Spearheading advancements in real estate investments and beyond, Jay is passionate about coaching the next generation of real estate agents, first time home buyers, and property investors. His entrepreneurial spirit has recently led him to launch a series of seminars entitled "Buy with a Buddy" which aim to educate consumers on creating wealth through real estate. About Jay O'Brien, REALTOR and Managing Partner at RE/MAX Prestige:
In 2011, Jay was driving home from his unfulfilling, corporate job that he had desperately been trying to escape when a friend of his suggested he contact Sammer Mudawar (Broker/Owner RE/MAX Prestige) who was opening up his own real estate brokerage. In doing so, he quickly identified with Sammer's drive and desire to create a platform for other like-minded entrepreneur's to pursue their goals. This candid conversation, in which Sammer shared his vision for his company, inspired Jay to commit to joining Sammer's team with a goal of becoming the #1 agent within a few months.

Devising a plan of action to segue into the real estate industry, one which is commission-based, meant Jay had to leave the comfort of his salaried position and make sacrifices in order to gain traction in his new career. However, these sacrifices allowed him to pursue his passion and offered him the opportunities for wealth development he'd been seeking. Over the next few months his commitment was tested as he declined two 6-figure income opportunities, humbly reclaimed his old retail management job for stability, and worked tirelessly around the clock for almost a year. Jay recalls setting up his schedule on the weekends at his "day job" to be 2pm-10:30pm in order to fit in an 8-hour day of real estate prior to his shift, beginning at 6am. These 12-16 hour workdays eventually came to a halt when he realized he was running to his car every 20 minutes to fire up a laptop, power on his internet card, and tend to a real estate deal while clocked in at his retail job.

During those initial months of grueling hard work, Jay closed 3 transactions. Soon after leaving the safety net, he closed a further 14 transactions in just over 6 months. In less than a year, he had finally earned his desired 6-figure income, doing something he loved.

"The journey to success is generally paved with stories of struggle and perseverance. Aspiring real estate professionals will have their share along the way. This is why it's so important to select a brokerage with leadership that can provide the tools and guidance necessary to succeed. At some point every agent is going to make some degree of sacrifice and experience pain that will question their decision to continue forward," says Sammer Mudawar. Both Jay and I have been at the point where the leap of faith had to occur in order for the vision to have a chance. Every real estate agent who starts their career will also have to make that leap; we know how it feels and how to guide agents along the way." -Sammer Mudawar, Broker/Owner RE/MAX Prestige
