New Book "Backfired" Delivers Mystery and Suspense While Giving Readers a Glimpse into the Possibilities of Covert Operations in our Homeland

"Backfired" delivers alarming government cover-up operations unveiled slowly by the efforts of the main character. A web of deceit and murder keeps the reader hooked, with twists and turns leading to an unexpected closure.

LA QUINTA, CA, April 29, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carl K. Osborne's new mystery novel, "Backfired," is a story that immediately grips readers with the tragic destruction of an airliner and all passengers onboard, in which no evidence is available as to what caused the devastation. As the mystery unfolds it is eerily familiar to the recent media coverage about the United States Missile Defense Agency and their faulty programs for homeland security.

As a recently retired criminal defense lawyer for nearly 50 years in Beverly Hills, Calif., Carl Osborne transfers his criminal defense experience, based on over 14,000 cases he has represented, into his engaging writing style. As in his past books, he brings intrigue and anticipation as the pages are turned. "Backfired" is based around cases Osborne has represented whereby he ties together his firsthand experience with corruption, secrecy and the fight for justice.

"Backfired" delivers alarming government cover-up operations unveiled slowly by the efforts of the main character, a New York homicide detective who lost his family in the crash. While the story involves top officials and law enforcement, the power of the media plays a significant role as do the involvement of corporate conglomerates. A web of deceit and murder keeps the reader hooked, with twists and turns leading to an unexpected closure.

The debut of Backfired comes on the heels of recent press in Los Angeles Times about the U.S. Missile Defense Agency gambling on costly missile defense projects that flopped. Similarities in the defense department's failed missile protection programs parallel in Osborne's story.

Other books written by Osborne include "Retribution," "Short Stories," "Super Notes," and "Out of Bounds." Reviews on amazon.com of his last book, "Retribution," include the following:

"Great, gripping story with great characters. Haven't come across Mr. Osborne's work before, but if "Retribution" is an example, write on! Couldn't put the book down until the climaxing end! Will be getting his other books soon."

"This book is very hard to put down. Carl Osborne is a master at keeping his audience on the edge of their seats. I can only hope that this book becomes a movie. What a book!"

"Backfired" is 314 pages and published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform. It is available in paperback for $9.99 on amazon.com.

Osborne lives in the Palm Springs area and is available for interviews and appearances. For booking presentations, media appearances, interviews, and/or book-signings contact Chris Clemens, Clemens Public Relations, LLC, at (760) 578-8700 or [email protected].
