Anything More Terrifying Than Your Teenager at the Wheel of Your Car?

TeachYourTeenDriving.com, a new online guide helps parents survive the teaching process

In many states across the country, teens must spend a few hours behind the wheel with a professional instructor, but the vast majority of their time learning to drive is with a parent.

LOS ALTOS, CA, May 06, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In many states across the country, teens must spend a few hours behind the wheel with a professional instructor, but the vast majority of their time learning to drive is with a parent. While professionals have resources available, parents have long struggled with how to go about teaching their teen to drive. TeachYourTeenDriving.com, a new online guide launched by The Driving Company, aims to solve this problem by providing a wealth of information for parents of teen drivers.

Dave Storton, the instructional designer for the program, developed the Teach Your Teen Driving program after teaching his own teens how to drive. Harnessing his more than 20 years of experience teaching firefighters, search and rescue personnel, law enforcement, and the military how to drive in tough situations, Storton created an easy-to-follow online course that provides parents with the information they need. Storton says, "When it comes to driving, we as parents are our teenager's primary instructor. Since driving is the #1 killer of teenagers every year, this is something we need to take seriously."

Storton's rich expertise includes holding a Master's Degree in Adult Education and recognition by the State of California as an expert in teaching everything from parallel parking to pursuit driving. His driving expertise has been showcased on Mythbusters, Fox News Channel's Fox Report, The Discovery Channel, the New York Times, and other media outlets.

The Teach Your Teen Driving program includes more than 25 short training videos, learning activities, evaluation forms, tracking forms, and checklists. The professional instructors at The Driving Company are available to parents who need additional advice or guidance as they progress through the program.

More information about this program can be found at www.TeachYourTeenDriving.com.

The Driving Company, parent company of the Teach Your Teen Driving program, was founded in 2003 to serve the driver training needs of emergency services personnel. It has since expanded to offer training to both government agencies and private companies in driving as well as instructor development and adult learning concepts.
