MENDHAM, NJ, June 23, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- "Racism is deeply rooted in the history of slavery in America," said Michael Jay Nusbaum. "We need to fight against Racism with the same combined efforts that were used to fight against slavery. Ere Aworan tells of a time when we came together to fight for good."

Though a work of fiction, "Ere Aworan" is based around real historical events, and its narrative could still teach readers about the history of slavery and the anti-slavery movement around the time of the Civil War. It is Nusbaum's hope that, in reading this story, his readers will not only learn about the Africa Squadron and realize how active Harriet Tubman was in fighting for the Union and for freedom but also continue the dialog of the history of slavery in America.

"When I first learned about the Africa Squadron, I wondered why I had never heard of the US Naval efforts to stop the slave trade. Then, I began to read about all of the amazing things that Harriet Tubman did during the Civil War and felt the need to tell the story of the anti-slavery movement in America," said Michael Jay Nusbaum.

After extensive self-directed research of African American History as well as being politically and socially active for civil rights, Nusbaum wrote "Ere Aworan" (published by Xlibris) to further tell the story of slavery and the anti-slavery movement in America.

A story of love, hope, redemption and the fight against slavery, "Ere Aworan" follows Osumaka and his family who are abducted from Africa. It portrays Osumaka's perspective as his family is separated and sent into slavery as well as his experiences through the Middle Passage. Ultimately, Osumaka escapes into the Underground Railroad only to meet and join forces with Harriet Tubman in the fight for freedom.
