Hastings & Hastings Preaches Vigilance during Monsoon Season

PHOENIX, AZ, July 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- . The Arizona Department of Emergency Management designates the monsoon season as the months between June and mid-September. Indeed, residents of Arizona would be wise to prepare for the hazardous monsoon season approaching the valley.

In fact, Governor Ducey even encouraged vigilance against the dangers associated with monsoons by declaring June 14th through the 19th, "Monsoon Awareness Week." But, every week should be treated as monsoon week, given the capricious nature of the storm and the intense heat, pressure, and danger.

"We encourage everyone to be mindful of the dangers associated with the monsoon season. If you are driving while a monsoon strikes suddenly, then head home ASAP, or pull your car over and let the storm pass if warranted," said David Hastings, president and attorney at Hastings & Hastings.

Surprisingly, monsoon storms actually originate from the sea. When radical temperature changes take place between land and sea, the result is a whirlwind of pressure that manifests as a monsoon in the desert.

Monsoons are characterized as a sudden storm that blows into the desert during a summer month. It is not untypical when dealing with monsoons, for a bright, clear, sunny day to quickly change to overcast. Amidst overcast is a raging combination of wind and rain that Arizonans refer to as a monsoon. What's more, a monsoon involves high temperatures. Indeed, the Arizona summer is dire, and residents must be on guard against monsoons, high temperatures, dehydration, and even snakes.

Southwest monsoons are particularly unique because of the capricious nature of the storm. It is not uncommon for large, white fluffy clouds to explode into a raging monsoon storm in less than an hour. In other areas prone to monsoons, Africa, Asia, Australia, or Europe, monsoons follow a more gradual trend of formation. Indeed, our southern hemisphere counterparts, Africa, enjoy a longer interval of forewarning than we do in AZ.
