World Traveler Amira Kidd Launches First Novel

The Monkey King: A Journey to a State of Presence

COLUMBUS, OH, July 31, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Born with a curse and raised within the shadows of a family secret, a charismatic Moroccan from Dubai, Salem Tamimi questions both his Muslim faith and existence.

Planning a book signing and reading in the Short North district Author and freelance writer Amira Kidd will, debut her second book and first mytho-psychological novel "The Monkey King: A Journey to a State of Presence" August 1, 2015 on Amazon Kindle.com.

Spending three years in Dubai, Kidd was inspired by an international student, to write The Monkey King: A Journey to a State of Presence. A love for world culture Kidd hopes that through creative story telling she can bring insight and acceptance to different beliefs and lifestyles.

Set on the sidewalks of Astoria, NY, The Monkey King is a contemporary story of Salem Tamimi. He has a secret and the unusual encounter with a stranger unleashes it. Struggling with his identity dark memories of the past resurface with the visit of family. Moroccan by blood, Muslim by birth, and unknowingly born with a curse, his very existence is threatened, as he looks to the streets of New York to swaddle him in concrete serenity or smother him in a fog of desolation.

The Monkey King: A Journey to a State of Presence gives a glimpse into the life of a first generation young American Muslim and his family. Struggling with beliefs, lifestyle and sexual identity as a hermaphrodite, this character takes the reader on an unexpected, but empathetic journey of a confused Moroccan from the deserts of Dubai to the sidewalks of busy New York.
