Ms. Wanyama has 15 years of professional experience, with four years as Human Resources Director at Lafarge, the past 6 months of which have been at Lafarge Canada. Each day, she serves as the key human resources business partner of Lafarge Canada, and she works to identify human resource issues, while also working to develop action plans to support business objectives. She also develops organizational capabilities through effective talent management, employee development, performance management and change management. Ms. Wanyama works closely with the vice president of the company. Lafarge Canada is a building materials provider that sells and distributes building products and supplies.

Through the course of her 15-year professional journey across three different sectors (FMCG, financial services and industrial) Ms. Wanyama has gained very valuable technical, business, and leadership knowledge and skills. These have been acquired through working with people and teams across different cultures and geographies, putting collective efforts together to achieve superior outcomes. In her early years she developed technical skills within her area of specialization and as she grew professionally, she started to learn more business skills. All together, her technical and business skills have propelled her into senior roles where she has had the opportunity to hone her leadership skills. Looking back, Ms. Wanyama attributes her success to her mentors, her attention to detail, and an interest in the subject and people. She became involved in this profession because she wanted to be involved in a sector of business with large overall impact.

Ms. Wanyama received an MBA in International Business Management from the University of Nairobi in 2002 and a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Administration from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa in 1997. She maintains affiliation with the Institute of Human Resource Management. In the future, Ms. Wanyama hopes for continued growth and expansion of human resource influence.
