WILMINGTON, DE, October 28, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- William J. Hayes Jr., Chef, Operations Manager and Owner of Delaware Provision Company, Inc., has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in the culinary arts.

A highly-trained chef with 16 years of experience, Mr. Hayes takes pride in the culinary work he does as chef, operations manager and owner of Delaware Provision Company, Inc. Maintaining the daily operations of the company, including production, sanitation, distribution, logistics, cooking, and managing and maintaining the facilities, he has taken the company from a small, family-owned wholesale supplier to a successful catering business.

Started by Mr. Hayes' aunt and uncle, Kathleen and Sam Lavery, in 1970, Delaware Provision Company, Inc. supplied groceries and luncheon meats, cheeses, oils and spices to mom and pop shops and pizza parlours across Delaware. In 1980, they bought out Barczewski's Meat Market in Wilmington, which made homemade Polish sausage products. Throughout the 1980s, they made sausage and distributed provisions throughout Delaware. They dabbled in catering throughout the 1990s, where Mr. Hayes picked up on the culinary side of the business.

As a freshman in high school, Mr. Hayes joined his aunt and uncle at Delaware Provision Company, Inc. and fell in love with the business, leading him to go to culinary school. With Mr. and Mrs. Lavery's knowledge of the business and Mr. Hayes' culinary background, the family was able to grow the business. In 2011, he became owner of the company and tipped its focus toward catering. The business caters all types of events, including baptisms and communions, bridal parties and weddings, holiday parties, baby showers and corporate events, and is especially well known for catering luncheons for after funeral service gatherings. He recently was asked to cater the 50th reunion for current and past St. Francis Hospital staff members. Mr. Hayes is also community conscious; throughout the year, he makes contributions to local charities and other fundraising events.

Another much sought after process that Delaware Provision Co offers to hunters of deer and other wild game is having the meat made into specialty sausages. His food truck is also contracted to do weekly lunch events for Amtrak and the Delaware National Guard.

Through the support of his family and the culinary education he received, Mr. Hayes has made Delaware Provision Company, Inc. into a successful catering business. He enjoys being able to experiment in his kitchen and come up with new menu ideas. Mr. Hayes intends to continue expanding his business in the future by adding a second downstate location and continuing to utilize farmers markets, social networking and business relationships. His southern Delaware retail clientele continues to grow, as a number of residents from the Lewes and Rehoboth resort areas as well as Milford and Milton travel to Wilmington to purchase his products. Most recently, he purchased a food truck and is now serving lunches at local business complexes.

Mr. Hayes graduated magna cum laude from Delaware Technical Community College in 2004 with an associate degree in hotel, restaurant and institution management, going back to the school to earn an associate degree in food service management and culinary arts in 2008. He is a member of the First State Chefs Association and the American Culinary Federation. Mr. Hayes was featured in The News Journal, DE in 2007 and 2008 with stories titled 'Sausages are a Link to the Past: Meat Merchants Have the Polish Touch if Not the Polish Heritage,' and 'Delaware Provision Hits its 'Crazy' Time' respectively.
