Local Boys & Girls Clubs Receive National Honors

Boys & Girls Clubs of America awards Ventura County Clubs



    OXNARD, CA, November 01, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of America recently honored Clubs in Oxnard, Conejo Valley, Camarillo and Simi Valley with awards for increased club membership and outstanding board leadership.

The Gateway to Impact gold-level award was given to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley. The Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley and the Boys & Girls Club of Camarillo received the silver-level award. This award recognizes Club organizations that have achieved significant increases in average daily attendance and capacity utilization during the calendar year.

The League of Eagles award went to the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. This award honors Clubs that achieved at least 90 percent of the Key Performance Indicators for strong boards as stated in their 2014 annual reports.

The League of Eagles Awards are a key element of BGCA's Leading Edge 2020 Board Transformation Strategy, which advances new tools training, and technical assistance to local Boys & Girls Clubs board of directors.

"Our boards work very hard to keep the Clubs running, through fundraising, creating new partnerships in the community and building lasting relationships with our communities. This kind of recognition shows us we are on the right path and inspires us to continue making strides for our kids," said Erin Antrim, chief executive officer, BGCOP.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme exists to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. With three full-service clubs and 18 school program sites, the organization is one of the largest of its kind in California, serving more than 9,200 members annually. It's also the first Boys & Girls Club of its kind to open in the Juvenile Justice Center.
