ATLANTA, GA, November 29, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Attorney Lance LoRusso, the acclaimed author of When Cops Kill will be signing copies of his new Christian thriller, Peacemaking (ISBN 978-1-61005-688-5-51095, BookLogix, 2015) on December 3rd at 5:30 PM ET at Kouzina Christos at 1453 Terrell Mill Road, Suite 125, Marietta, GA 30067. The cost is $20 and includes a signed copy of the book and food provided by the award-winning Kouzina Christos. All of the profits from the signing go to Hunting for Heroes, a national non-profit that provides recreational therapy and counseling for law enforcement officers severely injured in the line of duty. Peacemaking follows the journey of a police officer, Scotty Painter, in the aftermath of a shooting and LoRusso draws on his extensive experience as a former law enforcement officer and that of other officers in developing the story and expressing the emotions that the officer experiences, as well as, the affects the incident has on others. In Peacemaking, readers see the principal character as he travels his spiritual journey and ultimately turns to the only one who can truly understand his emotions and who he is.

"I am very honored to be signing copies of Peacemaking with all profits going for Hunting for Heroes," said Lance LoRusso, author of Peacemaking. "This is the season of giving and I can think of no better way to do this than in giving back to those who risk their lives daily to keep us safe - law enforcement officers.

"Law enforcement officers are the unsung heroes of America," continued LoRusso. "Daily they put themselves in harms way and despite media portrayals nobody fully realizes what they face emotionally and spiritually after an officer involved shooting. Peacemaking does this."

In Peacemaking, Scotty Painter is the most respected member of his police department, having worked his way up from a street cop to deputy chief. After losing his wife, Christine, to cancer and giving his daughter away at her wedding, he now lives alone. His life as a cop is not easy, however, as he is haunted by the misery he has seen and the things he had to do to survive. One day, he finds himself sharing his deepest and most troubling thoughts with the only one who can truly understand his struggles and answer his questions. In a world far apart from his days filled with life and death decisions, Scotty comes face to face with his fears, his faith, and his destiny.

Hunting For Heroes is a national organization that provides recreational therapy and counseling for law enforcement officers severely injured in the line of duty. Disabled law enforcement officers often do not have medical or disability benefits and are sometimes dismissed from their departments when they can no longer perform their duties. Hunting For Heroes comes in and helps these officers. The organization is entirely supported by donations.

Lance LoRusso is a law enforcement officer turned attorney. Having worked as a street cop, trainer, hostage negotiator, public relations officer, and investigator, he regularly trains law enforcement officers from around the United States. As an attorney, he responds to the scene of officer involved shootings and represents officers through interviews with homicide and internal affairs investigators as well as grand jury hearings.

His first book, When Cops Kill: The Aftermath of a Critical Incident, explores all aspects of an officer involved shooting, including the media scrutiny, investigations, civil suits, and living with having taken a life in the line of duty. The book includes interviews from officers who used deadly force, officers who were shot in the line of duty, and family members who received the call they dreaded. LoRusso, having been interviewed by the likes of CNN, FOX, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Christian Science Monitor, and others, has put the book into use in law enforcement academies, advanced training for law enforcement executives, and college courses in criminal justice. All of the profits from When Cops Kill support law enforcement charities like http://www.huntingforheroes.org. Lance LoRusso practices law in Atlanta, Georgia where he lives with his wife, Barbara.
