Rory Mark McWade has been Named a Professional of the Year in Transportation and Logistics

    PRETORIA WEST, SOUTH AFRICA, December 02, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rory Mark McWade, General Manager of Intercape, has been named a Worldwide Branding Professional of the Year in Transportation and Logistics. While inclusion in Worldwide Branding is an honor, only small selections of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Branding membership.

Mr. McWade has been in the logistics, supply chain and transporter industry for more than 30 years. Skilled in operations, project management, procurement, warehousing, marketing and hands-on management and leadership, his extensive knowledge in business management, systems, functions, and techniques for the mining, motor, transport and logistics industries has led to his recent employment with Intercape as general manager, where he has strong influence in business management, procurement, logistics, services, supply, strategic business plans, finances, technical support and trajectory for the company, to name a few.

Mr. McWade has enjoyed an extensive career in various management and senior-level roles, having held more than nine board appointments with a multitude of companies. He has taken a company from a semi family-based business to the corporate-level through his ISO certification in Africa. His work has earned him several awards and nominations, including a gold medal from the Foundation for Excellence in Business Practice for his work with Nuffield Toyota in 2004, a 1999 to 2000 Customer Excellence Award from Ford Worldwide Direct Market Operations and runner-up for Zimbabwe Manager of the Year in both 2012 and 2013. With Intercape, Mr. McWade's responsibilities include handling teams in new business development, leading and executing long- and short-term business objectives and strategies and evaluating company performance and providing reports and feedback during meetings to executives and board-level personnel. He has direct involvement and manages company communication structures, operational policies and processes, ensuring that both company standards and productivity of the fleet are maintained. Having an influence over the company's human resources, payroll and training strategies, he oversees their compliance with technical systems and policies, ensures effective human capital resources and ensure that a productive structure with required job definitions are in place. Mr. McWade also assists and manages all assets and infrastructure for the company, liaisons with teams to manage its risk beside the internal audit team and committee feed back reports, and engages with clients and key stakeholders. Further, he facilitates the growth and development of market share, works hand in hand to ensure the adherence to sound financial operating procedures and analyzes the financial position of the company with desired recommendations, corrective action and proactive management.

Separated from his peers by his ability to lead people and encourage them to lead, Mr. McWade's success lies in his results-oriented nature and ability to help people develop to their true potential. Tasked with motivating senior staffs of Intercape's 1500-employee workforce and leading and mentoring their senior management team, he uses teamwork towards obtaining his main goals and objectives. His preferred management of staffs, is to lead in such a way that people will follow him by choice rather than by command, causing higher and more respected productivity and higher than expected team performance. Mr. McWade is all about teamwork to achieve sustainable results.

In 2014 Mr. McWade was interviewed by Business Focus Africa Magazine issue 39, where he made the front cover page and main story in the magazine. Mr. McWade was quoted as saying, "Intellectual capacity is a powerful asset within any company, nurture and save it like it was about to go extinct, there lies the success of a company."

Mr. McWade firmly believes that a company's staffs are the pillars that hold the organization together, customers and clients cause the financial success of a company because they invest in the stability and security of the people who set the culture and standard of a company. It must be teamwork at all costs for the common good of all.

Mr. McWade earned a bachelor's diploma in business management in 2000, as well as numerous certifications, including Level II Certification in general management from Ford and Super User Certification, Lean Dealer System from Volvo Truck Sweden in 2004. He received Mercedes Truck 901 and 902 Mass Distribution Certificates from Daimler Chrysler South Africa in 2003. In 1999, he obtained business management certificates in business functions and business techniques, as well as Level II Certification in Ford brand, dealership value, fleet business, process management and certification in critical customer contacts and prospect interviewing from the Ford Dealer Process Management Program. He also received Mechanical Technician Level I Certification from City and Guilds of London in 1984. Mr. McWade is a fellow with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport United Kingdom.
