Secure Internet Communication thanks to Quantum-Resistant Key Exchange

Modern internet communication, online banking and electronic commerce rely on the public exchange of encryption keys. The currently utilized algorithms are although all susceptible to attacks by quantum computers. Security is at risk.

A novel algorithm that is immune to conventional attacks, as well as attacks employing quantum computers is publicized today.

The algorithm based on permutable functions, named RVB after its developers Brands, Roellgen and Vogel, computes secure keys faster than conventional algorithms on existing hardware like servers, notebook PCs and smartphones. Quantum resistance is obtained through the sheer number of irreducible mathematical operations, which poses an insurmountable hurdle for quantum computers.

The novel key exchange algorithm has the potential to be rapidly adopted by software developers all over the world resulting in an increase in attack security of popular internet protocols like SSL. Except for interactive applications requiring short authentication strings (SAS), the algorithm is free for use in free-, as well as in commercial software.
