Bethany Arts Community Announces Launch

Mission to create a space and environment where the many forms of art can be learned, produced, and flourish.

OSSINGING, NY, December 23, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today, Bethany Arts Community, Inc. announced its purchase of a 25 acre property located at 40 Somerstown Road from the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers.

"This 43,000 square foot building and 25 acres will enable Bethany Arts Community to become an integral part of the Ossining, Westchester County, and Lower Hudson River Valley art world," said David Lyons, Executive Director at Bethany Arts Community, Inc.

Positive Community Impact
The façade of the 43,000 square foot structure will not be altered in order to preserve and honor the aesthetics and history of the building. Bethany Arts Community has reached out to local community leaders, artists, and art organizations to establish positive and productive working relationships and to help fill in any gaps within the local art culture.

"From the first time I heard about David's plan for the space, I was thrilled- not only will it enhance the scope of cultural opportunities for our residents, especially, our school-aged children, but David has planned it in a way that will not disrupt the natural tranquility of the site or the character of the surrounding neighborhood. He came to us with an idea that just fits, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome Bethany Arts Community to Ossining," said Sue Donnelly, Supervisor, Town of Ossining.

Helping To Fill A Need

The need has never been greater for a place artists and arts groups can call home. Westchester County Executive's proposed 2016 budget was recently released and calls for a 20% cut in funding for the arts. Founded in May of 2015, Bethany Arts Community, Inc. is aspiring to be a leading center for arts creation, education and appreciation. The organization will offer a wide range of programs and services designed to help the many forms of art be learned, produced, and flourish.

Bethany Arts Community (BAC) is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to create a space and environment where the many forms of art can be learned, produced and flourish. Artists of all ages and levels of experience are welcome to explore and create art that the community can experience and be engaged in while enhancing their perception and perspective of the world. BAC aims to inspire sharing, connection and collaboration in a culture designed to spread as a ripple effect for the benefit of the local community and beyond.
