Rachel Ann Weiss, MBA, Honored for Excellence in Information Technology

    MAHWAH, NJ, January 11, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rachel Ann Weiss, MBA, Lead Data Security Analyst of UPS has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in IT Services.
Ms. Weiss has 38 years of overall professional experience, with 22 years as a lead data security analyst at UPS. Each day, she is responsible for mentoring a team of six individuals and taking care of mid-range platforms. She also manages and audits access controls, auditing 2,000 servers on a daily basis.

Ms. Weiss is affiliated with the computer measurement group for which she has been a keynote speaker. At the beginning of her career, Ms. Weiss attained a background in computer engineering, which led her to work for a company that, after a while, seemed only to offer monotonous work. When the chance to work for UPS came, she took advantage of all the experience and training she would get. Since entering her chosen field, she has found that one organization that has made a difference is IEEE.

Looking back, Ms. Weiss attributes her success to her tenacity and long-range vision. As a woman in today's world, she also credits her mentors, sponsors and coaches. She became involved in her profession because it was a natural extension of something she did prior to joining UPS. One highlight that stands out the most is when she met Bill Gates.

Ms. Weiss received an MBA for Scientists, Engineers and Technical Executives from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1986, as well as a Bachelor of Science in electric engineering and computer science from Polytechnic University in 1982. In addition to her degrees, she holds an Amateur Radio Extra License and a Certification in Performance Capacity Planning, which she earned from BMC. She maintains affiliation with IEEE, the Association of Computer Machinery, the Computer Measurement Group and the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL). She is also an Area Director for District 83 of Toastmasters International. Ms. Weiss was selected as the 2015 Radio Operator of the Year with the Amateur Radio Relay League. The organization will hold a banquet where she will be presented with a plaque for her outstanding work. She has also been named as a Top Female Professional for 2015. In years to come, Ms. Weiss hopes to continue being open and ready to embrace change.
