Local Attorney to Be Honored With The 2016 Missouri Lawyers Award for Securing the Largest Reported Plaintiff's Verdicts or Judgments of 2015

Finney will be honored Fri., January 29 at The Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark.

ST. LOUIS, MO, January 20, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chris Finney, a local attorney at Finney Law Office, has recently been named as one of the recipients of The 2016 Missouri Lawyers Award. Finney and the other winners will be honored Fri., January 29 at The Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark.

The 2016 Missouri Lawyers Award honors attorneys for their accomplishments in 2015. Only a select few throughout the state of Missouri are selected for this award.

Finney was one of the few attorneys securing the largest reported plaintiff's verdicts or judgments of 2015 when he successfully won a $35 million bench judgment for a client who allegedly suffered a brain injury when he was struck by a steel beam while working on a barge on the Ohio River. The plaintiff had been struck in the head, which resulted in a right frontal brain injury and a broken neck.

Finney received his law degree from St. Louis University. While in law school, he was awarded the David J. Hensler academic award for excellence in trial advocacy. He accepted a position as an assistant circuit attorney in the Circuit Attorney's Office in the city of St. Louis upon graduation. While there, he handled various issues, including Grand Jury indictments and felony gun and drug crimes. From there, he accepted a job at a large insurance defense firm in which he handled cases ranging from dog bites to premises liability, auto collision, and wrongful death. He gained great insight into how an insurance company and defense team analyze and handle claims and litigation.

After gaining a great deal of experience, Finney joined his father and brother at Finney Law Office, LLC in 2012. He currently focuses his practice on personal injury claims of all types, including trucking accidents, auto collisions, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and premises liability.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Finney was a teacher and football coach at Regis High School in Denver, Colo. He returned to St. Louis and continued coaching football at St. Louis University High School until he began working at the Circuit Attorney's Office. Due to his background in football, Finney takes a special interest in head injuries, including concussions and traumatic brain injuries.

Aside from his award in law school, Finney was selected as a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an invitation-only group in which less than one percent of attorneys are members nationwide, at the age of 30. He was also selected as a Rising Star by SuperLawyers, an honor that is limited to 2.5 percent of all practicing attorneys in Missouri.

Finney is a member of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the Lawyers Association of St. Louis, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the American Bar Association, the Missouri State Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice.

Finney lives in the St. Louis area with his wife and two young sons.
