Metro Health Expands Allegan Heart & Vascular Practice

In response to increased demand from patients, Metro Health is expanding its award-winning heart and vascular practice in Allegan.

WYOMING, MI, January 21, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Metro Heart & Vascular began seeing patients at Allegan General Hospital in 2013. On Monday, Jan. 18, the practice will expand to a larger office, offering expanded services eight days a month compared with the current two days a month. Interventional cardiologist Dr. Fadi Saab will be joined by cardiologist Dr. Ali Saab.

Ali Saab recently joined Metro Heart & Vascular. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac computed tomography. He has a special interest in diagnostic testing and interpretation.

"We are happy to expand our heart and vascular practice in Allegan," said Mike Faas, president and CEO of Metro Health. "Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of men and women across the country. A growing number of our patients call Allegan home, so it makes sense to expand our reach and offer more convenient access to much-needed treatments."

Both doctors will provide cardiology and vascular consultations. They see patients struggling with vascular disease such as peripheral arterial disease, or PAD. PAD is a common circulatory problem in which narrowed arteries block blood flow to arms and legs, causing numbness, leg pain, tissue damage and leading to amputation.

Metro Health Hospital has developed a nationally recognized specialty in the treatment of PAD and amputation prevention. Led by Dr. Jihad Mustapha, Metro Heart & Vascular physicians utilize leading-edge technology to clear blockages and restore circulation in even the most challenging of cases. The practice regularly attracts patients from around Michigan, across the United States and around the world.

"Metro Heart & Vascular provides a comprehensive and coordinated approach to the treatment of cardiovascular disease, working with patients, their primary care physician, other specialists and family members to prevent amputations - and save lives," Faas said.

PAD can be a devastating diagnosis for patients. Patients at high risk include those who are obese, have diabetes, heart disease or another circulatory issue. Smokers are also at a higher risk, as are African Americans and Native Americans.

The Metro Heart & Vascular Allegan practice is located in Allegan General Hospital at 551 Linn St., Suite 110, Allegan.
