The best way to accomplish this is using a device called a matrix switcher. A matrix switcher enables the user to route any source to any TV or display. The PRO3-88M and PRO3-1616M are advanced and innovative units developed by a manufacturer that began implementing HDBaseT as a standard for most of their products. For those that are new to HDBaseT, this technology allows the transmission of audio, video, Ethernet, power, and control over a single category cable.

The PRO3-88M and PRO3-1616M are robust matrix routers with power over Ethernet capacity for receivers and an option for an analog audio breakout. The PRO3-88M and 1616M matrix switchers for 4K/UHD present HDBaseT routing of up to 328 feet as well as 230 feet for shorter cable runs. Atlona has also included two HDMI outputs for mirrored routing on both of these units to allow HDMI based audio to an AVR or to be used as an extra output.

Let's explore the AT-UHD-PRO3-88M in depth. The outputs of this unit offer a bi-directional extension for RS-232 and IR control with remote. If you're wondering why Atlona did not make all outputs extend up to 328 feet, well there is an excellent reason. While we're on the subject of sound, another unique device that works well with the matrix switchers is the AT-UHD-M2C-BAL multi-channel audio converter. This converter is designed to extract multi-channel LPCM, Dolby, and DTS surround sound signals of HDMI sources over to balanced analog signals for professional AV systems.
