Virginia Beach Plastic Surgeon to Speak at National Industry Meeting

Dr. Thomas Hubbard, a Virginia Beach plastic surgeon, will teach specialized techniques in breast augmentation and lift surgery at the ASAPS meeting.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, March 13, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Thomas Hubbard of Hubbard Plastic Surgery (www.hubbardplasticsurgery.com) has been asked to speak at this year's meeting of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, or ASAPS, in April in Las Vegas. The Virginia Beach plastic surgeon will train others in his techniques combining breast augmentation and lift surgeries.

Dr. Hubbard will lead a 2-hour teaching course titled Implant Isolation Tension Management Augmentation Mastopexy. Augmentation mastopexy is a specialty of Dr. Hubbard's that combines 2 procedures that are popular in his Virginia Beach practice -- breast augmentation and breast lift -- into a single surgery.

"I'm seeing a steady rise in the popularity of augmentation mastopexy because it treats 2 of the primary aesthetic concerns I hear from women: that their breasts lack volume and their breasts are sagging," Dr. Hubbard says. "In addition to adding lift and volume, the approach I use removes sagging along the bottom of the breast, moves the nipple to a more aesthetically pleasing position, and even resizes the areola if necessary.

In the mid-2000s, Dr. Hubbard began working on an advanced technique to combine these 2 procedures, which had been popular on their own but which surgeons had limited success performing simultaneously.

"Here is the big advance. Surgeons that combine the implant with breast lift still use a 40-year-old technique for the lift. It is not very effective and has greater length of scar. For 10 years now, I have been using the European vertical lift with implants. It is more effective with less scarring, and with my method, both safer and more predictable."

Today, augmentation mastopexy patients of Dr. Hubbard can enjoy relatively discreet scars, a boost in volume, and a significant lift, he says.

"This combination really works well for my patients, and I'm so pleased to offer this approach," Dr. Hubbard says. "I'm excited to share the technique with more surgeons so more women around the country can benefit."

The 2016 ASAPS meeting isn't the first time Dr. Hubbard has been asked to speak about his approach to augmentation mastopexy. He introduced the technique at the 2013 ASAPS meeting in New York, and lectured on the fine details of the method at the 2015 ASPAPS meeting, held in Montreal.

The ASAPS is recognized as the world's leading independent organization of board-certified plastic surgeons who specialize in cosmetic procedures. Its members are held to stringent standards of training, practical experience, and ethics, and the group meets at its annual conference, known as The Aesthetic Meeting. This year's conference will be from April 2 through April 7 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Dr. Thomas Hubbard (www.hubbardplasticsurgery.com) is a board-certified plastic surgeon who serves as the medical director of Hubbard Plastic Surgery. He is board certified in plastic surgery and otolaryngology, and he specializes in cosmetic breast surgery and rhinoplasty. After earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Hubbard graduated with honors from Washington University School of Medicine and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Has extensive international training and has been practicing in the Virginia Beach area for more than 20 years.
