MINNEAPOLIS, MN, March 22, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- VitalSims announced the national release of their incontinence associated skin damage (IASD) online training simulation. This is the latest addition to their suite of patient safety and chronic disease management educational software developed for health care professionals and students.

"We are pleased to develop and release this valuable educational tool to health care professionals which will aid in the identification and assessment of this high incidence concern which affects millions of patients each year in the U.S.," said David Wrightsman, CEO of VitalSims. "We, our content providers and collaboration partners nationwide are passionate about the improvement of patient outcomes and this development was no exception," he added.

Hartmann USA released this education platform to hundreds of health care professionals earlier this month as a free continuing medical education (CME) service to a network of medical professionals. "The virtual clinic environment created by the development team at VitalSims was visually appealing and the medical content was created by clinical experts," said Maryann Beebe, Product Manager for Incontinence Management at Hartmann USA. "We expected that learners would begin to access the training over the course of the month and were delighted when long term care providers registered for all 200 online seats within a matter of hours," she remarked.

Medical content and subject matter expertise was provided by the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and was led by Donna Bliss, PhD, RN, FAAN, FGSA.

VitalSims collaborates, develops and distributes online accelerated learning technology (imagine a flight simulator for health care), which assess and validate skills, knowledge and decision making in a safe environment that is applicable for use in professional education and health system workforce development. Their learning simulations have been proven to improve patient outcomes and have a positive impact on health care economics. These educational simulations have been developed as an online resource which affords rapid deployment across integrated delivery networks, health systems and schools of medicine at a moment's notice and allow learners to access on their laptop, smartphone or tablet device.
