BOSTON, MA, June 15, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. George O. Zimmerman has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Born in Poland, Dr. Zimmerman relocated to the United States as a teenager in 1950. He later attended Yale University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science before receiving a Ph.D. in 1963. With an Ivy League education under his belt, he went on to achieve a notable career as a physicist, professor and researcher. His tenure with Boston University began shortly after he attained his doctorate, and he served as an associate professor of physics before assuming a full professorship role in 1974. He was Chairman of the Physics Department and many University committees. Dr. Zimmerman has been a respected professor emeritus of Boston University since 2001.

In addition to his work inside the classroom, Dr. Zimmerman has contributed to a number of journal articles on low temperature physics, phase transitions, the Jahn-Teller Effect, superconductivity and the history of physics. He received a number of research grants throughout his career as well. His numerous professional affiliations include the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Materials Research Society, Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi.

Dr. Zimmerman's accomplishments were highlighted in the 17th edition of Who's Who in the World, the 7th through 10th editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and multiple editions of Who's Who in America published between 1986 and 2016. He continues to reside in Boston, where he enjoys classical music and photography and continues his research in physics and history.
