Velux Modular Residential Skylights

VELUX America's Venting Modular Skylights (VMS) are designed to open up large spaces while creating a light, bright and spacious environment.

FORT MILL, SC, July 21, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- VELUX America's Venting Modular Skylights (VMS) are designed to open up large spaces while creating a light, bright and spacious environment. The skylights offer fully integrated ventilation and sun screening and fixed and ventilating units can be mixed.

Developed in collaboration with renowned architects Foster + Partners in London, the skylights feature a minimalist design with very slim profiles. The electronics and motors in each module are concealed, creating a simple and refined look, inside and out. They are constructed from an advanced composite material for exceptional strength and energy-efficiency.

According to Ross Vandermark, national product manager for VELUX America, the VMS is primarily a commercial line but one of the models available, the single-slope 5 degree Longlight, is very well suited for residential use. "This unit," he says, "is suitable for roof pitches between 0 degree and 10 degree. Other Longlight systems are available for roof pitches between 10 degree-25 degree. The installations are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and there is a 10-year product warranty."

"This is a relatively new product for VELUX in the United States," Vandermark says, "but a number of residential installations have been completed with very satisfactory results and good feedback from homeowners and installers."

Vandermark says that the residential Longlight skylights are installed on a sub-construction made from wood for maximum energy performance. "It's essential that the sub-construction meet precise specifications in terms of dimensions and loadbearing capacity and VELUX product sheets and installation instructions contain detailed product descriptions and installation processes. Since this will be a new installation process for most residential roofers, we are also producing videos to support the roofing industry as this product is utilized on more homes."
