About Allison Friedman:
Allison Friedman has had her own practice, Psychotherapy Solutions, for the past 30 years. Here, she specializes in individual, group, and family psychotherapy services, particularly with young adults, adolescents, and women. She began her career as a social worker and primary therapist on an inpatient adolescent unit at Hall-Brooke Hospital. She then worked as a Psychiatric Social Worker Associate at High Meadows, where she developed and implemented a multidisciplinary treatment team model for the residential treatment facility. She also held the position of Psychiatric Review Consultant for Aetna Life & Casualty. In recent years, Allison also served as a Counselor in the Counseling Service of a small, private liberal arts college, where she developed a Journal Therapy curriculum using projective writing to help clients build upon their strengths through creative self-expression.
Allison Friedman earned a Master of Science in Clinical Social Work with a concentration in Clinical Services for Children and Families at Columbia University School of Social Work in 1981. She earned a Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Human Development and Family Relations at the University of Connecticut in 1979. She has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the States of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York since 1986, 2001 and 2002 respectively. She has also held School Social Work certification in the State of New Jersey since 2001. She is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers, Academy of Certified Social Workers, and a former member of Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education, American College Personnel Association, the Mid-Hudson Women's Network and the Connecticut Society for Clinical Social Work. She achieved Diplomate status in the American Psychotherapy Association in 1999. Ms. Friedman is also an honored member of The International Women's Leadership Association, recognized for her contribution to family, career and community.
Allison's short story, 'Sahara Affair' was selected for inclusion in a 2013 anthology, A Slant of Light, which was awarded a USA Best Book Award (USABookNews.com) in 2013 and a Beverly Hills Book Award in 2014. Several other awards for A Slant of Light are pending. In recognition of her achievements, she was named a Top Female Executive by Worldwide Branding.
