GHWCC Hosts Houston Business Executives who Strutted the Catwalk Benefitting STEAM Town USA's Scholarship Program

    HOUSTON, TX, September 27, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual luncheon and very unique fashion show celebrating Houston's leading executives and entrepreneurs benefiting the Chamber's STEAM Careers Scholarship program. The show was hosted on September 15th in the Grand Ballroom at the Hiltons America Hotel providing scholarships for deserving female students graduating from Aldine, Houston, Spring, and Spring Branch School Districts to attend a Texas college of their choice. STEAM program is STEAM Town USA (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) an initiative to increase exposure of third grade girls to STEAM concepts, improve grades and graduation rates, and encourage girls to pursue STEAM careers

Each runway model wore a fashionable ensemble from French Cuff Boutique, Joan Pillow and M Penner, representing what someone would wear entertaining clients, in a business casual setting, or in a business meeting. The event was not only supported by women but a few guys braved the catwalk including the CEO of ABACUS Plumbing, Air Conditioning & Electrical, Alan O'Neill, who wore a pin striped suite by A Taghi.

Proceeds from the event directly benefited the GHWCC's program of work in the community, which includes providing scholarships for deserving female students; the Chamber's Smart Start Program for Women Entrepreneurs; and STEAM Town Scholarships, STEAM's day to day program is an initiative to familiarize third grade girls with science, technology, engineering, arts and math concepts and careers.
