Soul Science Lab Joins Belafonte's Many Rivers to Cross Festival Lineup

    NEW YORK, NY, September 29, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Social justice organization Sankofa.org, founded by entertainment icon Harry Belafante, add Brooklyn-based Hip-Hop duo, Soul Science Lab, to the Many Rivers to Cross Festival, for music, art and social justice, October 1-2, 2016 in Atlanta, GA.

The Many Rivers to Cross Festival (http://www.manyriversfestival.com) is the largest music and arts festival dedicated to racial and social justice where progressive movement, artists and thought-leaders who are leading change in their communities will converge for a 2-day festival of including concerts, visual and performance arts and conversations for change. Soul Science Lab (http://www.soulsciencelab.com) is set to perform music from their debut album Plan for Paradise on October 2nd on the Social Justice stage. The 45 minute set will include songs from their recently released debut album, Plan for Paradise, which chronicles cultural and social justice, joys, triumphs and life's journeys in a blend of raw Hip-Hop, Afrobeat, R&B and second line Jazz.

The two-day festival will host three stages featuring world-renown artists, speakers and activists including Carlos Santana, John Legend, Common, Ledisi, Public Enemy, Dave Matthews, Estelle, Macklemore, TI, Sweet Honey In The Rock, Robert Glasper, Q Tip, Chris Rock, Jasiri X, Dianne Reeves, Jussie Smollett, Aja Monet, Aloe Blacc, Sounds of Blackness, Goapele, Michelle Alexander, Danny Glover, Chris Tucker and more!

In addition to the music performances and speeches, a series of panels and discussions will be held for some of the country's most influential and powerful movement leaders, artists, activists and over 40 nonprofits dedicated to the promoting social justice reform in an immersive Social Justice Village. The conversations will work to engage, inform, exchange ideas, and activate calls-to-action to mobilize attendees around society's most urgent human rights issues as well as how to use their platforms to amplify ideas and solutions to advance human rights for all, including systemic bias and discrimination exhibited by legal, voter disenfranchisement, ending mass incarceration, gender justice, alternative policing, freeing caged communities, the role of art in the movement and more. The festival will also include a Healing Justice Tent, where festival goes and can access key healing tools that will rejuvenate and inspire, including meditation, yoga, and other therapeutic practices that help renew the body, mind, and spirit.

All throughout the festival there will be curated art installations and sculptures including works from artists: Sophia Dawson, Brandan "B-Mike" Odums, Douglas Miles, Katie Yamasaki, Rontherin, Kristy Sandoval and Sydney James Green. Some of the artists will be creating live on site. The weekend will culminate with "Stir It Up", a two-hour curated presentation by entertainment icon/activist Harry Belafonte giving us a cultural and artistic look at the American black experience then and now.
