Rare Opportunities in Primary Care will Present Poster at the Largest National Rare Disease-focused Meeting

Rare Opportunities in Primary Care will unveil findings from a survey that illuminates the unmet needs in managing primary care for patients with a rare disease

RAMSEY, NJ, October 18, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Tuesday, October 18, Rare Opportunities in Primary Care, an initiative dedicated to addressing the unmet needs in primary care management for patients with rare diseases, will present a poster at the National Organization for Rare Diseases' (NORD) 2016 Rare Diseases and Orphan Products Breakthrough Summit in Arlington, Virginia.

The poster, which highlights key issues facing primary care providers in the treatment of patients with rare diseases, was developed from the results of an electronic survey sent to more than 600 primary care providers in August 2015. The survey, which assessed clinician perspectives on providing primary care to patients with rare diseases, was completed by 536 respondents and sheds light on the significant challenges these providers face with regard to implementation of practice protocols, finding useful sources of information, and in their overall confidence in treating the many routine primary care needs of these complex patients.

The Rare Opportunities in Primary Care poster will reveal the topics about which clinicians feel ill-prepared when providing primary care to patients with rare diseases. In addition, it will offer recommendations for ensuring access to the best possible primary care and, ultimately, the best possible outcomes for these patients.

The poster session will take Tuesday, October 18 from 8 am to 5 pm at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, VA.
