Dr. Steven Lattimore Celebrated for Work as an Educator & Classicist

Dr. Steven Lattimore's work has truly made him stand out from others in classical studies



In recognition of his achievements, he has been named a fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation.

    SANTA PAULA, CA, November 04, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Steven Lattimore has been included in Marquis Who's Who. A professor emeritus of the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Lattimore is well-known for his work as an educator and a classicist. He taught in colleges and universities for more than four decades, specializing in the study of classics, and wrote books on his chosen field as well.

Dr. Lattimore set off on his career path with a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College in 1960. From there, he earned a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy, both from Princeton University. During this time, he worked as an instructor at Dartmouth and Haverford College, as well as an assistant professor at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome. He started his career at UCLA in 1967 as an assistant professor and became a professor in 1998, a title he held until his retirement in 2006.

An expert in the field of classics, Dr. Lattimore has written "Marine Thiasos in Greek Sculpture" and "Isthmia: Sculpture II: Marble Sculpture, 1967-1980." He also translated "The Peloponnesian War" by Thucydides, a publication which has received numerous positive reviews. In recognition of his achievements, he has been named a fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation. Additionally, he has been included in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World. Dr. Lattimore is also an elected member of the German Archaeological Institute, and he enjoys traveling and hiking in his free time. Although he is now retired from his line of work, Dr. Lattimore's efforts will continue to live on for years to come.
