TACOMA, WA, November 13, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lori Tsugawa Whaley is an author, professional keynote speaker and life coach. She is on a mission to empower others to reach their God-given leadership potential no matter their path, heritage, or circumstances.

Lori Tsugawa Whaley shares secrets to a happier more powerful life in her book, "The Courage of a Samurai: Seven Sword-Sharp Principles for Success." The basic principles of the Samurai are brought into easy-to-follow ways you can use in your own personal and business life. This book shares real-life stories from Lori's life and the lives of others as they take the bold journey to empowered, happy, and successful living.

According to Lori, "There's a Japanese proverb that says: Fall seven times and stand up eight. As long as you're breathing, there is a chance to always overcome your situation. Never give up. My mother used to say, "There's always a way." If you think you've found every single way, there's always a way. Always try your hardest and even if it seems like you're just hanging on by the thread. There's that thread that will keep you going. Also, it comes with the person's inner core. So if I ask a person about their principles in life that they life by and they don't have any, then I would encourage them to read the book."

"There are so many things that you can do to become the passionate, powerful, and empowered individual that you are. In this episode, you're going to find some secrets that have been around for a really long time but can give you the ability to really tap into an inner peace that will help you be able to really live the life that you want to live." Lori Tsugawa Whaley is a third-generation Japanese American, and a descendant of the samurai. As a baby boomer, she grew up in a predominately Caucasian logging and farming community in rural southwest Washington. Lori's character and work ethic were formed by working hard alongside her parents on the family farm. She struggled with being different, especially during the school years. As an adult, Lori channeled her energy into tireless research trying to understand her Japanese heritage. A lifelong desire led Lori and her husband on a trip to Japan. This first encounter with Japan fueled a yearning to dig deeper into her ancestral roots. She discovered that what she once scorned, she now warmly embraces. Lori is on a mission to inspire individuals to apply the code of bushido (way of the warrior) to tap into their sole purpose in life. This will facilitate individuals and organizations to create their greatest leadership potential so they can live a powerful life of contribution far beyond their normal day-to-day existence. The courage and compassion to guide others through tough times have been forged by her personal journey to regain wellness against demanding odds. Lori is a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) survivor. Lori leads an active life, including volunteering for the YMCA for over 20 years. She is passionate about and enjoys Israeli folk dancing. Lori has been involved with Toastmasters for over 10 years, initially to overcome her fear of speaking. Professionally, Lori is a member of Association of Women Owned Business (AWOB). Lori is proud and passionate about her Japanese heritage. She has traveled to Japan, speaks basic Japanese, and met her Tsugawa relatives during a trip to Japan. Lori is a member of the Japanese American Citizen League (JACL), U.S.-Japan Council (USJC), Japanese Cultural & Community Center of Washington (JCCCW), the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington (JASSW), and the Camp Harmony Committee. One of Lori's passions is to perform Japanese folk tales and dramas that involve using pup- pets for both young and old audiences. A Pacific Northwest native, Lori graduated from Portland State University in 1978 with Honors. She has been married to husband John for nearly 40 years, and is the mother of two adult sons, a daughter-in-law, and is the doting grandmother of five adorable grand- children, including identical twin girls! Lori and John reside in a Japanese-style country home in the Pacific Northwest.
