Fifteen Bloggers Wearing Handmade Super Hero Costumes Inspire Knitters and Crocheters Everywhere to be Yarn Heroes by Crafting for Charity

Lion Brand Yarn Company Launches "Yarn Heroes" In Partnership with Charities and Charity Crafters

"The knit and crochet community is made up of incredibly generous people and this campaign will help them find and express their inner Yarn Hero," says Jessica Potasz of MamaInAStitch.com

NEW YORK, NY, November 17, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lion Brand Yarn Company announces "Yarn Heroes," a campaign celebrating knitters and crocheters who create a more giving world, one stitch at a time. Fifteen of the most popular knit and crochet bloggers joined forces with Lion Brand for a combined total reach of over three million people for the Yarn Heroes campaign. Each blogger designed a free pattern ideal for donating to charity and will share their inspiring personal stories of charity crafting. Each blogger knit or crocheted a Yarn Hero outfit to celebrate the self-empowering nature of crafting with yarn!

"I love how charity focused the crochet community is," says Tamara Kelly of the website Moogly Blog, who commands one of the largest and most dedicated followings anywhere. "And it doesn't have to be hats for babies or blankets for the homeless or any of the usual things - you can find a way to help almost any organization you care about, even if it's a yarn bomb to help raise awareness!"

Over the campaign's four weeks, Lion Brand will pick four charity crafters who submit their stories to [email protected] for chance to each win $250 worth of yarn, and a spotlight on their individual story.

Partnering with Lion Brand to spread the word are four major organizations dedicated to giving back to the community through yarn crafting: Project Linus, Project Knitwell, Warm Up America, and The Seamen's Church Institute's Christmas-At-Sea program.

Summing up the purpose Yarn Heroes, blogger Jessica Potasz of Mama In a Stitch said, "The knit and crochet community is made up of incredibly generous people and this campaign will help them find and express their inner Yarn Hero."
