CONWAY, AR, April 27, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- VP Business Development for Bison Pumps, Rachael Cox, recently returned from a trip to Mumbai with her husband, Micah Cox, and World Trade Center Arkansas specialist, Denise Thomas. They were there attending the 6th Annual Global Economic Summit on Women's Empowerment. The three-day summit was held at the World Trade Center Mumbai and featured speakers from around the world.

Women entrepreneurs attended and networked along with World Trade Center specialists from varying regions, including China, Cyprus, and Switzerland. The agenda focused on key areas for woman-owned businesses including access to finance, proper education and networking opportunities.

Bison Pumps is a Woman-Owned Small Business based in Conway, Arkansas, USA. In the Conway facility they manufacture hand pumps for groundwater wells.

"It was a great opportunity to inform decision-makers about our Community Deep Well Pump, which is specially designed for use by NGO's to supply water to a small village," Cox said.

Denise Thomas with the World Trade Center Arkansas, agreed: "It's such a great opportunity to talk with these people face-to-face and really explain how important these hand pumps are to a community that can't get access to safe drinking water."

According to water.org, 77 million people in India do not have access to safe water. Bison Pumps is hoping to change that with their newly-redesigned Community Pump. "The Community Pump is engineered for high-frequency, high-volume use. It's all Stainless Steel construction so it won't rust or corrode. The Bison design makes sure that the well can't get contaminated by outside particles," Cox explained.

"We [Bison Pumps] have found in our experience with NGOs that a lot of wells are installed but six months later may no longer be operational!" Cox said. This can be due to a number of factors, but usually the pump broke or needed maintenance that no one locally knew how to perform. Bison's design claims to have solved these problems.

"The goal is to provide access to safe water for a lifetime," Cox said.
