Robert S. Miller Honored for Excellence in Psychotherapy & Clinical Social Work

Robert Miller has been featured in the 52rd through 70th editions of Who's Who in America



He brings to his work a wealth of experience in psychotherapy and clinical social work, as well as a strong academic foundation.

    OAK HARBOR, WA, May 10, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert Scott Miller has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Miller is a psychotherapist who has been working in private practice since 2001. He brings to his work a wealth of experience in psychotherapy and clinical social work, as well as a strong academic foundation. Mr. Miller graduated cum laude from Seattle Pacific University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology, and then went on to receive a Master of Arts in social work from the University of Chicago in 1972. He began his career as a casework supervisor with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, where he advanced to the role of branch supervisor after two years. While working in this capacity, Mr. Miller pursued and obtained a Master of Arts in human resources management from Pepperdine University.

Next, Mr. Miller joined the University of Washington in Seattle as a lecturer and coordinator of the school's rural community mental health project. After a stint as executive director of Whidbey Island Armed Services YMCA, he held the roles of area director and executive director of United Way of Island County in Oak Harbor, Wash. Mr. Miller was also executive director of Saratoga Community Mental Health in Coupeville, Wash.

Mr. Miller spent the next 10 years with Catholic Community Services Northwest, holding the positions of outpatient therapist, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder mental health specialist, family center director, and clinical director. He left the organization in 2004. Mr. Miller also expanded upon his educational foundation with a diploma in life skills coaching, a Doctor of Business Administration, and certificates in geriatric social work and employee assistance counseling. Along with his work in private practice, Mr. Miller has worked as a psychiatric hospital surveyor, quality control reviewer, and project manager for the Ascellon Corp. He has participated in a VHA research project for Mathematica Policy Research as well.

A member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, Mr. Miller is a past president of the Washington Association for Social Welfare and past member of the board of directors of the Washington chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. He has also held leadership positions within a number of civic organizations such as the Huntington's Disease Society of America, the Oak Harbor Community Resource Network, the Greater Oak Harbor Economic Summit, the Whidbey General Hospital strategic planning committee and more.

Some of the most notable accomplishments of Mr. Miller's career include designing the first crisis nursery in Washington in 1983; being recognized as an Alumnus of a Greater Vision by Seattle Pacific University; and receiving an Outstanding Service Award and two McDonald's Program Achievement Awards for his work with the Armed Services YMCA latchkey program and the community indoctrination tour for Whidbey Island Naval Air Station personnel. He was named Diplomat of the Year by Greater Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce in 1991, and was awarded a Celebrating Excellence Award from the Ascellon Corp. in 2005. These and Mr. Miller's other achievements were highlighted when he was featured in the 3rd edition of Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals, the 52nd through 70th editions of Who's Who in America, the 1st through 8th editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, the 21st through 28th editions of Who's Who in the West, and the 2nd through 4th editions of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America. He has also appeared in multiple editions of Who's Who in the World.
