Elite Young NHL Prospects from Around the World Train in SoCal

The Maloney Thompson NHL hockey agency sends their up-and-coming stars to Carlsbad California for their off-ice hockey training to work with internationally renowned High Performance Coach Chris Munford at the California Sports Institute

I'm really interested in delving deep into his bio-mechanics to see how we can further propel him on his path towards the NHL. I'm excited about helping him unleash all that potential!"

SAN DIEGO, CA, May 11, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The California Sports Institute (CSI) based out of Carlsbad/San Marcos, California, is pleased to announce Jeffrey Burridge, Mark Woolley, Jaxon Bellamy as the second group of many off-ice hockey development training visits of uber-elite young hockey players over May 11-14/17 weekend.

CSI's Director of Science and Sports Performance, Chris Munford, an internationally renowned Sports Performance practitioner oversees the off-ice science-based hockey performance and development for Maloney & Thompson Sports Development (M&T), a top-tier hockey agency based out of Ontario, Canada, and their elite hockey clientele.

M&T sends many of their elite hockey players from all over the world down to Munford for full assessments and creation of their player-specific training regimens. Munford assesses and analyzes the players' bio-mechanics, rate of force development, movement signatures and game film in creating the individualized programs. Typically, the players stay with Munford at his home for 4 days for the analysis and introduction to their training paradigms. He then creates their programs and follows up (relentlessly!) with the players. The players return periodically during their off-seasons for continual fine-tuning and several players spend their entire summers in Carlsbad training under Munford.

Jeffery Burridge, from Ontario Canada, is a big (6'1", 195 lb 15-year old) winger who was a hit at the recent OHL Cup due to his outstanding, dominating play. Burridge combines his silky-smooth skating with brashness and power and he likes to battle his way into position and take over games and dominate. Burridge has unlimited potential and can develop into a high NHL draft pick in a couple of years. Munford opined: "I'm looking forward to having JB back down here; his potential is off the charts and one that skews to being a dominant NHL player one day."

Mark Woolley, also from Ontario Canada, is a 6'2'' extremely athletic Defense-man who had one of the best showings at the recent OHL Combine and was drafted by the Guelph Storm. He has speed and is a bullet from the backend that compliments his physical style. Said Munford: "Mark is new to me but it's hard not be aware of him; his reputation as having elite-athleticism and a high-end motor precedes him and I'm really interested in delving deep into his biomechanics to see how we can further propel him on his path towards the NHL. I'm excited about helping him unleash all that potential!"

Jaxon Bellamy, a mobile Defenseman from New Brunswick (Canada's east coast), has a superb mix of size (6'3") and impressive skating abilities and quick footwork. He will be a top 5 pick in the up-coming QMJHL draft and as Munford summarized: "Jaxon, simply speaking, there are not that many young defensemen on the planet with his size/footwork combination. Once we figure out his biomechanical profile and his rate of force development needs and dial down his off-ice hockey training program, I fully expect him to be a dominant force in the Q this coming season and fully expect him to do the same in the NHL one day."

Next up: Visiting Munford the following weekend to get going on their off-ice athlete hockey training, will be three young hockey studs who had stand-out seasons in the OHL this past year, one of whom who is hopeful to crack an NHL line-up as a goalie this coming season.

California Sports Institute is dedicated to the concept of enhancing and personalizing high performance training that is fundamentally driven by honest, peer-reviewed sports science. Whether you are an elite professional athlete, a young athlete passionate about finding out how good your best can be, or an aspiring coach looking to broaden and deepen your knowledge and abilities, we have the advanced level of world-class expertise to make your goals your reality.

True sports-science research driven training must not only be sport specific and position specific it must be athlete specific. No two athletes are bio-mechanically, physiologically, psychologically, or in fact genetically identical, therefore no two athletes should ever be trained the same! Our method is to first exhaustively analyze each athlete and out of this in-depth, real-science driven analysis, comes the training regimens specific for them! Our athletes are trained individually, one-on-one because science tells us they are supposed to be!
