LOS ANGELES, CA, September 25, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In celebration of Hispanic History Month, the Posada Art Foundation of San Francisco, CA announced today that it has loaned twenty original printed works by famed Mexican print artist Jose Guadalupe Posada. The show title, "Posada and His Legacy", honors the influence of Jose Guadalupe Posada on generations of artists. in addition to the display of nearly two dozen works by Posada, a variety of Posada influenced works by the college's art students may also be seen.

Posada Art Foundation Director, Jim Nikas, stated, "Although Jose Guadalupe Posada passed away in 1913, his work continues to inspire printmakers and other artists today. His name is little known yet his Day of the Dead imagery of the calaveras (skeletons), appearing originally around November 1 and 2, has grown in popularity such that they are seen increasingly year around. Today Posada's legacy may be viewed even in films; the Disney and Pixar film "Coco" (2017) and Reel FX Creative Studios' "Tree of Life" (2014) are two examples. Even the skeleton images appearing on bottles of Espolon tequila reflect Posada's influence."
